WATERTOWN, N.Y. —
Born Dec. 21, 1919, in the Bronx, N.Y., the daughter of Harold and Margaret Stanton Sutton, she and her family moved to Canada where she graduated from local schools.
She moved to Yonkers, N.Y., working for the National Bank of America as an administrative assistant for 17 years.
Helen married Joseph A. Zahensky on Oct. 23, 1945, in Yonkers. The couple moved to Watertown in 1982. Mr. Zahensky died Oct. 7, 2007.
She was a member of the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church.
Surviving are a son and his wife, Joseph A. Jr. and Barbara, Yorktown Heights, N.Y.; a daughter and her husband, Joan and Joseph O’Brien, Watertown; five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren; a sister, Jacqueline Heins, Simpsonville, N.C.; several nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Harold and Walter Sutton and two sisters, Marjorie Habina and Joan Johnston, all died before her.
A funeral Mass will be said 11:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 28, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Watertown, with Rev. Richard Kennedy, pastor, officiating. Calling Hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, at Cleveland Funeral Home, Watertown. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery.
