Funeral graveside services will be held noon, Thursday, Aug. 20, in Brookside Cemetery, Watertown, with the Rev. Dr. Fred Garry officiating.
WATERTOWN, N.Y. — Leon W. Quick Jr., 94, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Watertown, died August 12.
Born March 19, 1915, in Watertown, the son of Leon W. and Mildred Klien Quick, he graduated from Watertown High School and Duke University, where he played basketball.
During World War II, he served in the Merchant Marines as a ship Captain based in Australia. He captained ships with supplies, from Australia to numerous ports in the South Pacific, returning with the wounded to Australia. After his service, he received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Veterans Administration in 1988.
He married Patricia Blair in 1966.
Mr. Quick owned and operated Quick Motors Inc., an auto dealership in Watertown for a number of years.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Blair Quick, Gainesville, Fla; a son, William Jay Quick, Sarasota, Fla.; a grandson, William Scott Quick, Daytona, Fla.; four step sons and three step daughters, James Allison Montgomery, Greenville, Oho, William Logan and Christine Montgomery, Gainesville, Fla., Charles Blair and Barbara Montgomery, New Orleans, La., and Dr. Gregory Flack and Karen Montgomery, Harrisonburg, Va.; 13 step grandchildren and 5 step great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A daughter, Jessie Paul Quick and a stepson, Thomas Scott Montgomery, died before him.
Donations may be given in his memory to the First Presbyterian Church, Watertown.
