CAPE VINCENT, NY- Louise H. Lane, 76, of Aubrey’s Court, Cape Vincent, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017 surrounded by her family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Cleveland Funeral Home, Cape Vincent, NY.
Louise was born on February 28, 1941 to the late Gordon and Electa Robinson- Dunbar. After High-School, Louise worked at many jobs.
She worked at Thatcher Glass in Elmira NY from 1963-66, Kodak from 1966-70 making motion picture sheets. Louise was a nurse's aide in between at Rochester General neonatal unit. She owned and operated Beauty Lane hair salon in Cape Vincent, NY from 1973-80. Also owned Fair Lane Lumber in Cape Vincent. Louise worked at Cheseborough Ponds/ Tyco Kendall from 1976-98 making mercury thermometers. Wal-Mart 1998-2009 in the Garden Center as a cashier.
Throughout her life she did personal home health care for Cape Vincent Adult Home. From 1984-2006 Louise worked at Aubrey’s Store and Restaurant in Cape Vincent. She became a volunteer for the Cape Vincent Ambulance squad from 1988-1991.
She loved Bingo, gambling, her favorite “Let it Ride” at Turning Stone Casino. Loved to read, knit and crochet. She especially loved her time with her dachshund Q-tee.
On May 26, 1967, she married her supervisor from Kodak,and her best friend. Starting their lives together in Rochester, then moved to Cape Vincent to raise their four children in the small community they both cherished along the St,Lawrence River. Both enjoyed boating and fishing together.
Louise is survived by four children, Kimberly Lane-Cataldo (Grant) and her spouse Kathryn Lane-Cataldo, Cape Vincent. Cary Lane and his significant other Elizabeth Cloc, Cohoes, NY, Dr. Michael Lane and his spouse Nicholas Donchak, Princess Anne, MD, and Holly and Joseph Arcuri, Gansevoort, NY; 10 grandchildren, Amanda and Christopher Blair, Brandy and Jared Howard, Cody Grant, Damien Grant, Gabriella Grant, Michael Statt Lane, Derek Lane, Tyler Lane, Matthew and Peter Arcuri and a great grandson Liam Blair. Several nieces and nephews, with special love for Sally Carollo, William and Steven Mothersell, Mark and Marybeth Mothersell. She also is survived by 3 step sisters, Virginia Gaskin of Winter Park, FL, Betty Zeyad, Rochester, NY, Mary (Fred) Metzner, Summerville, SC. Charles Pruden of New Brunswick, N.J.
Along with her parents and husband, Louise is predeceased by her brothers, Gordon J. Dunbar Jr. and Richard D. Dunbar, Her grandson Evan Edward Grant in 1994.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, November 10th from 4-7PM at Cleveland Funeral Homes Cape Vincent location. A funeral service will be Saturday, November 11 at 10AM at The United Church of Cape Vincent with burial following in Riverside Cemetery, with Reverend Mark Pierce officiating.
