WATERTOWN, N.Y. — Rosalyn G. Alpert, 83, of Watertown and Fort Meyers, Fla., died Oct. 27 at her home on Harris Drive where she was under the care of her family.
Born July 23, 1928, in Syracuse, the daughter of Jacob and Laura Goler Shapero, she graduated from Syracuse Schools and Cornell University, with a bachelor's degree in education and then received her master’s degree in education at SUNY Cortland.
She married Arthur Alpert on April 3, 1955, in Syracuse.
Mrs. Alpert taught at the Fayetteville-Manlius School District, before her marriage and was a substitute teacher in the Watertown City School District for many years after her marriage.
She worked with her husband, Arthur at Max Alpert’s Inc. on Court Street, Watertown, until they both retired in 1991. Arthur Alpert died Dec. 20, 2010.
She was a member of the Degel Israel Synagogue, of which she was a member of the Sisterhood and the Hadassah.
Mrs. Alpert was also an active volunteer in the Ft. Meyers Community.
Roslayn enjoyed traveling, family, golf and bridge.
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Debra Andrews, Liverpool, and Amy Alpert and Alex Tuszynski, Belleville, Mich.; a sister, Eloise Shapero, Watertown; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, at the Degel Israel Synagogue, Watertown. Burial will be held in Degel Israel Cemetery.
Arrangements are with the Cleveland Funeral Home.
