Earl D. Weed

WATERTOWN, N.Y.  —  Earl D. Weed, 79, of 921 Riggs Ave, died Friday, April 9, at Samaritan Medical Center.  

Born Aug. 31, 1930, in the town of Alexandria, the son of Earl D. Weed Sr. and Margaret M. Paige Weed, he graduated in 1949 from Black River High School in 1949. He served in the Army from 1951 to 1953 in the 101st Airborne. 

He was married to Marilyne Johnston on Dec. 31, 1956. 

Mr. Weed worked for Knowlton Brothers Paper Mill, on Factory Street, Watertown, as a millwright for 38 years retiring is 1992. 

He was a member of The American Legion Post 61, Watertown and The American Legion Post 673, Black River. Mr. Weed coached Pop Warner Football, Grasshopper and Midget League Baseball. He was an avid bowler and golfer and enjoyed vacationing with his family. 

Surviving are two sons, Steven and Kevin, both of Watertown; a daughter, Donna L. Read, White House, TN; a sister Evelyn Augustus, Watertown; 6 Grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. 

A memorial gathering will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, at North Side Improvement League, 633 Mill St. A graveside service will be at The Barn Settlement Cemetery, Town of Alexandria at a later date.
