Marie J. Doty-Carey

CAPE VINCENT, N.Y.  —  Marie J. Doty-Carey, 78, of South James Street, died Friday, Sept. 30, at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.  

Born May 12, 1933, in Hornell, N.Y., the daughter of Earl and Edith VanAtta Hampshire, she worked at Kodak, in Rochester, in the Color Print Processing Department, retiring as manager in 1976.  

After her retirement, she moved to Cape Vincent and worked at Aubrey’s Restaurant for 18 years.  

She married Francis "Frank" Doty on June 29, 1951, in Rochester. Mr. Doty died Feb. 28, 1996. She later married George Carey on Nov. 10, 2001. 

Surviving are her husband, George; three sons, Frank Doty, Rochester, Randy Carey, Hilton and Richard Carey, Plessis; four daughters, Ann Youngs, Watertown, Sandy Carey, Cape Vincent, Sharon Johnson, Watertown and Tina Gibbs, Adams; a sister Sandra Nantz, Ft. Worth, Texas; nine grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.   

The funeral will be noon Monday, Oct. 3, at Cleveland Funeral Home, Cape Vincent. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Cape Vincent. Calling hours will be 10 a.m. to noon Monday at the funeral home.

Donations may be given in her name to American Cancer Society.
